Advisory Program

The purpose of Advisory is to make sure each student has one teacher they know is their advocate, making sure their learning needs are being met, encouraging them to make good choices, and help set goals for their future.

Advisory focuses on helping students develop skills to manage their learning, realize goals, develop and retain healthy relationships, understand their place in the world, etc.

Our Advisory uses on social-emotional learning curriculum. Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. 

SAGE Advisors act as the students go-to person. Advisors work with the student to develop their ILP (Individual Learning Plan), track their progress, and communicate with family.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
SEL fosters social and emotional skills within learners.  Students develop self awareness, self management, social awareness, responsible decision making, and relationship skills.

Restorative Practices
Restorative Practices is used to improve and repair relationships. Through restorative practices, healthy communities are built and foster an environment of learning, not judgement.  
Circles can be used to repair harm, but can also be used to share experiences, ideas, and beliefs in a safe place where all members can be heard and respected.

Life Skills
Preparing students for independent life is an important piece of high school.  SAGE believes all students should leave high school with the skills to navigate college and career, independent living, and personal financing.  All students a required to participate in  Life Skills lessons.

Global Learning
SAGE's mission is to help students understand  the world around them and develop compassion for all that inhabit the global community. Each student brings their own unique experience all can learn from.  From there, we can begin to look at the larger community.
