My name is Amanda Barbian and I am excited to join the teaching staff at SAGE for the 2021-2022 school year as a math instructor and student advisor! I am originally from Wisconsin but I came to Minnesota to get a Bachelor’s degree in Math and study math education at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. This will be my first year in a full time teaching position but I have been teaching and tutoring math for the past 4 years at various levels! What I love most about teaching is communicating directly with students to challenge them and build confidence. 

 

My teaching style is one of communication and collaboration! My goal for this year is to get students interested in using math to solve problems, and feel more confident in communicating mathematics with their peers! I encourage parents and students to reach out to me throughout the school year to let me know how I can support student's individual learning best.
